For about the last two months I’ve been on the phone freaking out with my fellow youtuber friends.  We’ve been talking about the changes and what it means for our future.

I’m a stay at home mom and I’m able to support myself and my 3 kids with the income I earn from youtube.  I don’t collect child support or take government assistance all my income is generated from YouTube.

I lost over 10,000 subs as YouTube tried to “clean up dead channels” or “Inactive accounts”  but what is also happening that my own subscribers have told me is that they were unsubscribed from my channel OR they don’t get my latest video sent to their sub box.  I’m down views by over half of what I was getting before.

I changed my format for making videos to turning the camera on, vlogging, and then turning the camera off with very little editing.  My old format with the white background and the jump cuts is gone because I put in about 3-4 hours writing/researching a video, then it’s another 2-4 hours to film depending on what exactly I’m filming and probably 6-8 hours (sometime more) editing.  On average, I would say I put about 14 hours of work into a 3-minute video.

I do it because this is my job and I love doing it! 

I love my fans and my viewers and I love making videos.

I’ve been doing this since 2006 as my full-time job.

With the all the changes YouTube is making it’s over looking the fact that it’s harming its most valuable users and original content creators.

Onision is bringing this to light and letting YOU, the community, know that these changes are bad and it affects all of us.

Yes, we YouTubers get paid for doing what we do, but don’t forget that the reason we are able to do this is because YOU, our viewers.  If we didn’t have YOU we would just be idiots with cameras filming ourselves for no particular purpose! LOL! And make no mistake about it - We are Idiots and we LOVE IT!

I love reading my mail I get from you guys.  Mail that I get sent to my PO Box and emails.  Lately, the mail is all saying the same thing and asking WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOUTUBE?!

I don’t have an answer.  I’ve contacted YouTube several times to fix my own sub box but once you guys started to write in to ME I started to realize you guys were being unsubbed from me or not getting my videos sent to your subbox.  My old time friend Blargal told me he had to keep an eye on his twitter feed for some youtubers because he wasn’t getting a notification of a new video from us on YouTube.

So I stopped putting in those 14 hours of work into my youtube videos because it’s not worth it when I’m not getting paid.  I get ad rev from YouTube but if no one’s watching I don’t make money.  So I started to doing product placement to supplement my income.

YouTube is my life!

I can’t sleep at night and I have high anxiety over money and my job security.  It makes me sad when someone tells me, “Get a real job”.  This IS my real job and I’ve been doing it well since 2006.  I’ve been paid well for doing my job and in my heyday as a mother of a newborn baby, LuLu, when her father abandoned us Youtube saved our lives!  We would have been HOMELESS if it wasn’t for Azrienoch (an awesome YouTuber) bringing me into his home and giving me a roof over my head.  I would have NEVER met him had it not been for YouTube bringing us together.

I support all YouTubers!  I am so proud of Jenna Marbles and of Michael Buckley and Shane Dawson and Charles Trippy! Anyone, EVEN FRED, that has success outside of YouTube BECAUSE of YouTube is a testament to us all who put in the work and strive each day to bring you original content and make you laugh or cry.  Onision is another youtuber that I am very much proud of and even more so after he has made videos about this warning us all of what is happening!

Just as much as you are a dedicated fan to Shane Dawson (or your fav YouTuber!) and love him to bits WE youtubers are a dedicated fans to YOU and your comments and subscriptions and video responses and thumbs up!  Why do we do it?!  We do it FOR YOU!

YouTube means everything to me and I wrote this and now I’m crying so I need to go lol I love you.  I love you!  I LOVE YOU!  Spread the word!  #SAVEYOUTUBE
